More About Your Gentle Knight

Hello and welcome to my very first blog post. My name is Celina, and I’m the owner and artist behind Gentle Knight Designs. A bit about me: I’m a graphic designer and all around outdoorsy individual. Three years ago, I moved to rural Ontario in the hopes of surrounding myself with nature. Even though I grew up in Toronto and love the hustle and bustle of a large city–I even lived in NYC for a few years–I longed for a simpler life. One with cricket filled nights, daytime rustling of wind in the trees, and wildlife sightings in my backyard.

I now get to experience all those things (and more!), which I try to capture in my artwork. As a designer and long-time crafter, I’ve been creating things for as long as I can remember. Even if the subject matter wasn’t nature specific, there was always an organic quality in my work. However, after my move north my art was increasingly inspired by moments I witnessed in my own backyard. The wonder and beauty of the wildlife around me was too much to keep to myself, and so those moments began to make it on to paper.

Not long after my move, I began Gentle Knight Designs as a place to exclusively showcase my nature inspired art. Since then, my artwork has grown to include multiple sources of inspiration (travel, nature documentaries, nat geo), but many are still rooted in my outdoor day-to-day wanderings. In a world where my day job involves marketing jargon, social media metrics and tight deadlines, my art is where I get to slow down, play and connect. By sharing my art with the world I hope to encourage an appreciation for simple moments and amplify people’s love for the wild.
